[Pharmacological action] Pharmacodynamics Iron is the main component of hemoglobin and myoglobin. Hemoglobin is the main oxygen carrier in red blood cells. Myoglobin is the part of muscle cells that stores oxygen to help oxygen supply during muscle exercise. Most of the enzymes and factors involved in the tricarboxylic acid cycle contain iron or function only when iron is present. Therefore, after the iron supplementation is actively given to iron-deficient animals, in addition to the acceleration of hemoglobin synthesis, symptoms related to tissue iron deficiency and reduced ferritin activity, such as stunted growth, abnormal behavior, and physical insufficiency, can be gradually corrected.
